Become an Optimism Activist
“Optimism is contagious!”
A talk by Bronwyn Williams, author of A Roadmap to Rescue our Republic reminded me of the importance of optimism. Optimism is the feeling of hope and confidence about the future and a belief in its success. Optimism aligns to the energy of success – for us as individuals, for communities and countries.
On a personal level, if we feel our future is bright we tend to invest in it by keeping healthy, educating ourselves, renovating our homes and generally laying the foundations for better times that are coming. In the same way, if we feel that our business future is bright, we invest in that too.
When we are optimistic, our energy attracts people that are inspired by us and they too tend to ‘catch the feeling’ and become optimistic along with us.
Ways we can do this (and I’m sure you can think of more) include
- Actively looking for positives in the day
- Training ourselves to find opportunities within challenges – many businesses start here in solving the pain points of challenges around us.
- Going ‘all in’ with our commitments rather than dabbling on the edges
- Investing in our own communities by becoming part of the neighbourhood watch, school parent body or simply picking up rubbish along your street.
- And building the future of the country by buying homegrown and farmer fresh rather than imported!
So, this week, I’m off to the shops for some new summer clothes and my first action will be to check the label. If it’s not ‘home grown’, it’s not coming into my home!
