Spark: the secret sauce to success

“Success requires us to be constantly inspired by the vision we see in our heads.”

An entrepreneur’s mindset is a wonderful asset. The disposition to do what needs to be done, take accountability for one’s own actions and turn an idea into reality.

Success requires us to be constantly inspired by the vision we see in our heads, and committed to bring it to fruition. We need a spark of enthusiasm to keep us motivated to win!

S: Set your sights on success. Focus your energy and spare time on reading, talking and thinking about success. Choose friends and colleagues that have a success mindset. If for example you want to win a sporting goal – be clear which one and why. See your name in lights as you cross the finish line in your mind.

P: Prioritise your plans. Put aside time to do the important things – What you prioritise you will achieve. To win that medal you will need a clear plan of action. Start from event day and work backwards to understand what need to be done. Prioritise your training routine to reach the goal.

A: Be Accountable. If it’s your job to do, do it.  Leadership requires us to lead by example and take responsibility for success and failure. Start by delivering on your promises to yourself, to your team and to your clients. Broken promises break trust. Promise yourself that you will do what needs to be done and then get out there and do it. Winning the race means following the training programme come rain or shine, no excuses

R: Review, revise and re-direct. Success requires us to constantly assess our progress. Ask the question ‘what can we learn from this’ both when things go wrong, and when things go right. In this way you will identify ways to improve with a constructive learning mindset. If your training performance is off, sit down and reflect, then adjust the plan to get back on track.

K: Be kind – to yourself and those around you. Accept that every path to success has its highs and low and find ways to work with this that builds everyone’s joy. If you missed a week of training, let it go, give yourself a break and get back on the road. Beating yourself up doesn’t fix the past so turn that energy into a refocus on the goal and rather reward yourself for getting back on track!

So, this week, whether you are launching a new product, learning to swim or signing up to run the comrades marathon. Remember to add a SPARK to your daily routine and do let me know when you reach success so that I can celebrate with you!

Wishing you a wonderful week!
