The Fight Club
“The art of business is choosing your battles wisely.”
I love the title of the iconic movie The Fight Club which is about two men who form an underground club to fight other men who are fed up with their mundane lives.
In my own version though, Fight Club is about a group of entrepreneurs who unite in their goal to make the world a better place for the people around them. They are fighting to get ahead in business, to stay positive and grow their fortunes and that of their family.
In my Fight Club the good guys (and girls) always win.
But unlike those macho folks who simply love to fight, we have to remind ourselves to fall in love with the winning, not the fighting.
So, today’s reminder is to ask yourself, are you falling in love with the thrill of the fight? Are you getting up each day looking for a fight, or are you actively seeking ways to win seamlessly and smoothly? Are you looking for doors that open effortlessly or deliberately banging your angry fist on doors that are closed to you?
And if the fight is really important, are you reaching out for advice and asking for help to craft the right strategy and action plan? Do you have your own ‘fight club’ of supporters to inspire, energise and guide you?
The art of business is choosing your battles wisely and knowing which fight to pick. Wise leaders know that winning doesn’t have to be an endless battle – it’s about saving your energy for the right fight and then getting help to ensure the win.
