In The Footsteps Of Courageous Women

On the 9th of August every year we celebrate the women of South Africa.

Yesterday was the anniversary of the historic women’s march when 20 000 women from all over the country travelled to Pretoria to protest against the Urban Areas Act. Like many other draconian laws, it required women to carry permits if they wanted to work in cities.

On 9 August 1956, women from all walks of life took a brave stand against this injustice.

Today, I would like to take a moment to honour all the strong, courageous women who stand firm in the face of danger, opposition and against the forces of darkness to bring about change.

Today, I recognise our sisters, mothers and grandmothers, our friends, community leaders and colleagues; ordinary and extraordinary women who continue to make the world a better place for all.

Wishing you all a wonderful week, one that is richly blessed by the women around you.

Kind regards

Catherine
