“Curiosity is the energiser of innovation.“
I used to think that curiosity was a unique personal trait, something that set me apart from others. Recently, I learnt that curiosity is the secret sauce that almost all entrepreneurs claim as their own!
What a wake-up call! It turns out that just like you, I am your typical curious individual who keeps on looking and learning, and has turned this trait into a business.
While too much curiosity can send us on frantic missions all over the place, like a person with unmanaged ADHD, too little curiosity leaves our thinking stunted and our ideas mediocre. Leadership requires us to harness our natural curiosity, with the discipline to lean in and examine these fresh insights and put the best of these new ideas into action.
- Stay curious. Keep eyes and ears open for new lessons to learn and new insights to land
- Assess the value. Test these new ideas for their unique value. Decide which ones to invest your energy into
- Turn ideas into action. Action delivers results. Test and prove your ideas before you scale them
How do you rate on the curiosity scale? How do you use this special trait to get ahead?
