The Power Of Dreams

“When we follow our dreams with actions, our lives are transformed.”

The power of dreams

I had a glorious, inspiring dream this weekend, which reminded me of the power of dreaming. It’s become quite common to use ‘dream boards’ to make inspirational visual pictures of what we want in life. These can range from a picture of a thinner you on the fridge to motivate weight loss, to a full Whiteboard of pictures reflecting all aspects of a perfect life – health, wealth, family, work and more. Business plans are also a type of dream board in which we imagine a glorious future as we expand our territories and increase our success.

Night-time dreams come in many different forms – from the jumbled nonsense of the mind processing thoughts of the day – maybe fragments of a TV show or pieces of an argument and threads of anxiety of tasks left undone. These dreams generally pass us by without impact, often forgotten within minutes of awakening.

Other dreams, though, can be so powerful that their impact lasts a lifetime. A dear friend of mine made a personal fortune from listening to and acting on her most powerful dreams.

Dreams make us aware of what is possible, either through deliberate daydreaming such as writing a business plan, having a brainstorming session, creating a dream board, or through the subconscious power of sleep-time dreams.

The important thing to remember, though, is that while the dream can show us the destination, it is the action we take that makes the dream come true. Had my friend simply noted her vivid dream about the stock market, rather than taking the bold action to sell all her shares mere days before global markets crashed in 2009, the dream would have remained just a dream. It was the action she took that turned it into a life-changing, positive event.

A business plan has no power unless it is activated and the picture of a handsome body on the fridge is just that unless we change our habits and commit to eat and live healthily. It is the actions we take that make it real.

So, this week, I feel inspired to dream more and to help others dream with me as we co-create lives filled with love and gratitude and make our dreams come true. Have a fabulous week!

With kind regards

Catherine
